Growing the Grassroots grant launches award-winning video for park friends group

FOCAlogo_MTremakeWith help from many in-kind donations and a $1,250 Growing the Grassroots grant from PTNY the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct have producted a seven-minute video that has been a big winner for the Friends of Old Croton Aqueduct.

“Celebrate the Old Croton Aqueduct,” was produced by the  Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct to better clarify its mission and highlight its long-term commitment to trail maintenance and the aqueduct’s preservation. Reaction has been very positive. The video received a 2014 Award of Excellence from the Greater Hudson Heritage Network and a Sy Schulman local history award from the Westchester Historical Society. After it was completed, the group also received a $1,000 grant from the Puffin Foundation to cover additional production costs.

“Since we have had the film on our website, our membership renewals increased 53% over the previous year.  We also added a dozen new members.  Thanks for your help!” said Mavis Cain, President, Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct.old croton trail
