Sixty 50 Friends group representatives and park staff gathered in Saratoga Spa State Park for what has become an annual tradition. PTNY’s own Laura DiBetta and Aimee Beaudette were on hand for the regional gathering.
The gathering, organized by State Parks’ Saratoga-Capital Region, was an opportunity for Friends groups and park and historic site staff to network and share ideas . The day also included presentations from the Natural Heritage Trust and PTNY’s own Laura DiBetta, who described the myriad resources PTNY offers to Friends groups.
In addition, participants were treated to a presentation and discussion on strategic partnerships by John Lowe, park manager at Max V. Shaul and Mine Kill State Parks, and Steve Coonradt, president of the Friends of Mine Kill and Max V. Shaul. Working collaboratively, the Friends and park staff have been able to dramatically increase the number of programs offered at the parks and thus the number of participants and park visitors.
Participants left the gathering energized with new ideas and inspiration to take back to their Friends groups, parks and sites.
