Albany Bikeway Link to 2 Great Trails

Stakeholders gathered in Albany last month to discuss the recreational and economic benefits that  a proposed connector trail linking the Albany County Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail with the Erie Canalway Trail would provide for residents and neighboring communities.

The link proposes a mix of dedicated bike lanes and off-street multi-use paths to close the 1.5-mile gap that will exist between the new trail and the end of the Erie Canalway Trail in Albany’s Corning Preseve. Without the link, cyclists would be forced to use busy Route 32 and neighborhood streets that lack dedicated bike lanes, sharrows, or way-finding signage. Parks & Trails New York has offered guidance on the SEBL planning process, and served on the taskforce that selected the preferred route.

More information can be found on PTNY’s Albany Bikeway Link page, at the Times Union, as well as at Albany Student Press.
