Show your appreciation for the New York State Canal System and Canalway Trail by celebrating the 10th anniversary of Canal Clean Sweep, April 17-19. Join with more than 150 communities, not-for-profit organizations, civic groups, businesses, and social clubs and 3,000 volunteers by participating in or organizing an event for one of the most popular Earth Day events in the state.
Whether it’s picking up litter and brush on lock grounds, helping to remove debris from a local Canal park, or preparing a section of Canalway Trail for the thousands of visitors that arrive each year; volunteers will work hand-in-hand with their neighbors and Canal Corporation employees to enhance and preserve this tremendous environmental, cultural and historic resource. Register an event today!
As state parks and historic sites throughout New York prepare for the upcoming summer season, Parks & Trails New York is once again partnering with OPRHP to organize the fourth annual I Love My Park Day.
More than 6,000 persons are expected to participate (a number that has steadily increased each year) to help enhance their parks and historic sites while raising the visibility of the entire state system and its needs.
Registration will be opening soon. In the meantime, check out last year’s accomplishments at some of the more than 80 participating locations throughout the state.
