A PTNY Growing the Grassroots grant has provided the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Association (WVRTA) with increased visibility for its trail system.
Recently the organization took on responsibility for 12 new miles of trail, bringing their total stewardship to 22 miles. This growth necessitated the development of new promotional materials.
A $1,500 PTNY Growing the Grassroots grant allowed the organization to print 10,000 copies of a new membership brochure featuring an updated and enhanced map of the expanded trail system. The brochure has been so successful that 1,000 copies were completely distributed within weeks of printing.
According to WVRTA president Irene Berner, “The Growing the Grassroots grant was instrumental in our efforts to bring awareness to the Rail Trail and increase our membership. PTNY’s support of the production of our brochure played an important role in our efforts as stewards of the rail trail.”
The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is a 22-mile linear park between Wallkill and Kingston consisting of expansive views of the Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains.
